Add a watermark to a PDF
This free tool for applying a watermark to a PDF lets you stamp every page with your own text in seconds — for example CONFIDENTIAL, COPY, or your company name. Set the opacity, angle, size, and colour of the PDF watermark, choose centered or tiled mode, and download the finished file — no registration and no page limit.
Full privacy — files processed locally
Unlike many online services, your documents here are never sent to a server. All processing happens in the browser on your device thanks to the pdf-lib library. Confidential contracts, invoices, and scans stay with you only — the tool even works offline.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my PDF files sent to a server?
- No. The entire watermarking process takes place locally in your browser. No file is sent to any server — your documents stay exclusively on your device.
- What characters can I use in the watermark text?
- You can enter any ASCII-based text, such as CONFIDENTIAL, COPY, DRAFT, your company name, or a URL. Diacritic characters will be automatically simplified to their Latin equivalents because standard PDF fonts do not support Unicode.
- How do I create a subtle watermark — almost invisible?
- Lower the opacity to 5–15%. You can also change the colour to light grey and choose tiled mode so the watermark covers the whole page evenly without drawing too much attention.
