Numbers in words - converter to English, Polish, German and Spanish
Our free calculator converts any integer or monetary amount to its word form in four languages: English, Polish, German, and Spanish. Just type a number in the field above and the result appears instantly. The tool supports numbers up to 999 quadrillion (10^18 - 1), so you can easily write out any amount on an invoice, contract, or accounting document.
Writing numbers in words is required in many legal and financial documents: sales contracts, cheques, international transfers, notarial powers of attorney, and tax returns. Manual conversion of large amounts is error-prone - our converter eliminates that risk and saves time.
Number mode and amount mode
In "Number" mode the calculator returns the plain word form of the integer, e.g. "one million two hundred thirty-four thousand five hundred sixty-seven". In "Amount with currency" mode you can choose a currency (PLN, EUR, USD, or GBP) and get two formats: bookkeeping (cents as two digits after a slash, standard on VAT invoices) and full (cents in words, standard in contracts).
Frequently asked questions
- How does the number-to-words converter work?
- The tool splits the number into three-digit groups (hundreds, thousands, millions, etc.) and converts each group into its word equivalent in the selected language. The result appears live as you type.
- How large a number can the calculator handle?
- The calculator supports integers up to 999 quadrillion (999,999,999,999,999,999), i.e. 10^18 minus 1. This is more than enough for any monetary amount in PLN, EUR, USD, or GBP in commercial or legal practice.
- What is the difference between the bookkeeping and full formats?
- In "Amount with currency" mode, the bookkeeping format writes cents as two digits after a slash (e.g. "one dollar 50/100") - the standard used on VAT invoices and cheques. The full format spells out cents in words (e.g. "one dollar fifty cents") and is used in contracts and notarial documents.
- Are negative numbers supported?
- Yes. Simply prefix the number with a minus sign, e.g. "-1234.56". The result will be prefixed with the word "minus" in all languages.
- How do I enter numbers with a decimal part?
- Both a dot and a comma can be used as a decimal separator, e.g. "1234.56" or "1234,56". Spaces used as thousands separators are ignored. Cents are rounded to two decimal places.
