Frequently asked questions

How do I convert l/100 km to mpg?
To convert fuel consumption from l/100 km to US mpg, divide 235.215 by the value in l/100 km (e.g. 6 l/100 km = 39.2 mpg US). For UK mpg use the divisor 282.481. Our converter does this automatically.
How do I calculate fuel cost for a trip?
Fuel cost = (distance in km x consumption in l/100 km / 100) x price per litre. Example: 300 km at 7 l/100 km and a price of 1.50 per litre means 21 litres, costing 31.50. The Trip calculator tab does this for you.
What is the difference between US mpg and UK mpg?
A UK gallon is 4.546 l while a US gallon is 3.785 l. That is why the same mpg UK figure corresponds to lower consumption than the same mpg US figure. 1 mpg UK is approximately 1.201 mpg US.
How many km/l is a car that consumes 8 l/100 km?
km/l = 100 / consumption in l/100 km. For 8 l/100 km the result is 100 / 8 = 12.5 km/l. In other words, the car travels 12.5 km on one litre of fuel.
